Ex-Cyclone Oswald

We are currently experiencing another flood in Brisbane. It's nowhere near as bad as two years ago, but it's still awful for everyone who are affected. We are okay though, although our backyard is a swimming pool again!
The worst thing has probably been sitting at home trying not to go crazy. Totally stuck in the house! The winds were very fierce too yesterday, the whole house shook and we lost electricity several times, although only for short periods.
Well, tomorrow is another day and even though half of the schools in the area are shut, M's school isn't! Sucked in!!!
So it's M's 6th birthday tomorrow and first day of Year One as well! Big day ahead...

Halfway Point

There is still a lot of snow and very cold, and we have been very busy.
We do miss daddy so much though!
I have caught up with my friend FL from back in school, which was great and as normal and natural as ever (some friends are just like that, hey?) and we have done some shopping and played in the snow and relaxed a lot. Today we are going to a playcentre which M is going to love. I am looking forward to running around there as well.
Tomorrow nothing in particular has been planned, but Monday is Tom Tits and Tuesday is Junibacken and on Wednesday we are going to Uncle J's work at a kindy where M will have lots of fun too. So yeah, all good.
Little J hasn't slept very well for a few nights but last night I got a solid 9 hours out of her so yay for that!!!

Blizzard

We didn't do much today because of the weather. Crazy winter storms and so much snow. Lazying around doing not much at all, my parents baked gingerbread men with M and Little J has crawled around their unit and played with everything.
Still very jetlagged. All three of us were up by 2am. M just fell asleep now without having had any naps during the day, and Little J has had a bit of sleep but not really that much. Fingers crossed we will get a bit of a later start tomorrow...

The state of our backyard

Somehow the prospect of placing a jumping castle on our lawn in 5 days time seems quite grim.

Especially since it's not supposed to stop raining either. Well, at least it's not bucketing down today. Just a gentle showering type of rain rather than the deluge of yesterday.

Madness. Well, this is living in the tropics I guess! I should not complain but I'm just terribly bummed out about the birthday party! :-(

It is also a reminder that the area between home and M's school actually floods. Took ages to get to school and to get home after dropping him off this morning. Joy.
